Cosmetology Is A Challenging Career - 983 Words
You spend hours studying for tests, quizzes, and State Boards. You work your hardest to learn every aspect of Cosmetology. You spend a total of 1,500 hours on your career--hours of hands-on activity and hours of staring at a book while you mindlessly try to take in all the information being taught. You have to be passionate about Cosmetology in order to make it. You have to be open to criticism and harsh judgement. You have to accept that practice makes perfect. Cosmetology is a challenging career, and most people think you cannot make money off of this career. With time and management, cosmetologists can make a profit through their profession. Many people disagree that cosmetologists can make money off of their career. People believe that it is hard to build up a clientele in a small town because clients are normally loyal to their stylists. On top of trying to build up clientele, a cosmetologist would have to pay booth rent. Booth rent is reserving a spot in a salon by paying a fee every week or every two weeks. This cost can range anywhere from $50-$400 per week (ââ¬Å"How Much Doesâ⬠). Cosmetologists also have to pay for the products they use, therefore, it is argued that they do not make profit. In small towns, prices appear to be lower than what might be found in a bigger city. These reasons are why many people argue that cosmetologists cannot make a profit. They work long hours and do what they can to stay afloat. Despite these challenges and hard ships there are rewards which are the motivators that serve as a drive to most entreprenuers (Uzor, 2011). Money. Entreprenuers get into the game because there is potentuial to make lots of money. Money is the main motivator for most entreprenuers. However there are a lot of people who venture into the entrepreneurial field only to be discouraged and leave it. There is a correlation between a good idea and timing. There are countless people who can be used as examples of how great timing coupled with a good idea can translate into money for most people (Ledwith, Coughlan, Bessant, 2009). Entrepreneurial moguls such as billionaire Mark Zuckerberg and Richard Branson are some of the great success stories of entrepreneurship. Flexibility. Entrepreneurship offers flexibility for those who are tired of the demands of traditional work. Working long hours, and being stuck in the same old rut of responsibilities become things of the past. Entrepreneurship frees ones from such restraints by being your own boss. You can work at the hours that are you feel are most effective and its still rewarding. For Woolworths geographicall information, the segments remains the same: Australia and New Zealand under the two different accounting standard. Even though the annual report in 2010 stated that it has business in India and Hong Kong, it may not be a substantial part of operation and has not been included in the segment report. Major Customer Major customer is a new segment which didnââ¬â¢t exist in AASB 114. AASB 8 stated that if a single customer contributes to at least 10% of an entityââ¬â¢s total revenue, it is a major customer. For Qantasââ¬â¢s business nature and size of organisation, it is reasonable not to have a single customer that contributes to at least 10% of the businessââ¬â¢s revenue, therefore the major customer segment doesnââ¬â¢t exist in segment reporting. At the same time, Woolworth runs mainly retail business. It is expected to not have a single customer that contributes a very significant revenue in its operation, and there is also no major customer segment as a result.
